Jack and the Beanstalk

This is principally for my dear friend Carole who bought me some broad bean plants several weeks ago.

I’ve never grown them before, but look - SUCCESS!

Don’t think I’ll be harvesting a huge crop this year, but I am so chuffed that ANYTHING has come up.

On a completely different subject, Shelagh sent me the following quote which I think is so true.

Heavy hearts, like heavy clouds in the sky, are best relieved by the
letting of a little water.
Christopher Morley, writer (1890-1957)

Here’s hoping your hearts are light as a fluffy cloud.

And if they aren’t, that you are able to get some relief.

Oh, that's a lovely sentiment and quite apt for me at the mo. Your broadbeans look wonderful - now you can look forwards to the fun of popping them out their furry beds, oh and eating them.

Congratulations on the beans and the book - and hope himself gets better soon, if he isn't already.

Re: the insomnia, I'm having the same problem but from the opposite end. The only thing I can suggest, other than making sure you have dark curtains to stop you waking up when it gets light (we've hung a dark blue sheet folded in two across the window on two trouser hangers - not pretty, but effective), is try a long walk with Mollie and maybe a milky drink before you go to bed. My recommendation to help with getting to sleep in the first place is architectural planning. Design your garden, your perfect house or a room in your house (or a boat interior), complete with measurements - gets me every time :D

Em - thanks for that. Good advice! I will try it...
