Eddie and the Tax Man

Yesterday was a day of intense highs and crashing lows.

The bad news came from the Inland Revenue. Quite how they can charge me so much tax when my income is so little is beyond me so I’m going off to have a chat with Nick The Tax Man. However, I’ve decided there’s no point in getting upset about the Inland Revenue. They are an unnecessary evil and life is too short.

However, the high yesterday came from a report back from my last assignment on a column I’d written and a book review. My tutor was extremely complimentary and said he’d have no hesitation in hiring me if he was an editor. He's not, of course, but it cheered me immensely as you can imagine.

As I’m off to work on my last cruise turnaround of the year in a minute, I leave you with a picture of Eddie, who has recently come to live with my friend Sue in Sussex. Sue already has a dog called Freddie, but apparently this hasn’t caused the problems that it might have, and Eddie is already a much loved member of the family.

He looks very fetching, I think, and should be used in an ad campaign for Weightwatchers or Slimming World. How could you not love such a character?

He is ADORABLE! I want a dog in my life. I've been thinking about this for a while now and will keep doing so. D agreed 'we'll talk about it next year'.
You see he is allergic to cat hair. So I had to give my darling Ricky to D's mum who is now enjoying this beautiful creature, and I have visitation rights of course. Now I think that deserves a dog! He's not allergic to dog hair.
The issue is we both work, although either of us is home on 3 days of the week. Plus the weekend. That leaves 2 days where he/she would be alone during the day. Do you think that's an option?

Sorry, rambling on here!

Nice comment on your assignment :)
And don't get me started on the Inland Revenue.

What a cute dog - another sore point in our house, oh dear, I love them, He hates them! Hope you are over your 'falling out'. Knickers - completely agree. What happened to such a basic garment?

Re Kitty's comment (on LBD's last blog) she said, 'it's lovely to receive one but so difficult to pass on without forgetting or upsetting anyone - and quiet often the person most deserving is the one who awarded you in the first place, which would defeat the point. So I have not yet passed on my awards, and have thus removed the awards logos from my blog so that I'm not hogging them and yet not passing them on. Does that make sense?'
Acknowledgement to Kitty for borrowing her words but that summed up exactly the way I was feeling - I mean it lovely to receive one but feel sometimes that some really good bloggers are left out. Ho Hum will get off soap box now!

Yes, he's beautiful. Perhaps he could be trained to eat the tax man.

good job on the column and review! i'm not surprised. you're a terrific writer.

and what a cute dog. love your idea of him eating the tax man. only, sadly, there seems to be an inexhaustable supply of tax men.... he'd get full very quickly.

That's great about what your tutor said...but then you're a fantastic writer, so I'd hire you too (if I was an editor, that is). Shame about the tax though.

A lovey picture of Eddie, what a cute dog!

dee - dogs shuoldnt be left for more than 5 hours maximum I was told - they are sociable creatures and will pine if they're left on their own for too long. 2 days on their tod is too much I think. Someone I know started leaving her dog and the poor thing ended up having terrible problems. Sorry if this sounds gloomy but it doesnt sound fair on the dog.

Well done on the assignment! I bet that gave you such a buzz :)

The dog is adorable. Cna he come and play at my house?

lane - yes, he would match Teabag wouldnt he? Eddie is a rescue dog that has really landed on his feet with Sue. She's always had dogs and adores them so Eddie will be in seventh heaven. I agree, I'd lovem ore dogs.

MissU - thanks, yes that assignment gave me a huge buzz! Now workig on putting it into action which is the important bit. And yes, Im sure Eddie could come and play. Trouble is, Exeter's a long way from Sussex!

I think Crystal is definitely on to something there. I would even volunteer my Rottweiller to eat your tax man. Or my bottomless pit of a black lab. Let me know, flowerpot, I'm happy to help in any way.

And good for you about your writing comment. He darn well should hire you!

You're probably right flowerpot, regarding the dog :-/ I do know a lot of people though who leave their dog alone all week, during work hours. So I'm thinking 2 days isn't so bad maybe. Out of 7 days in a week. But I'm merely trying to justify things in my head, that doesn't mean it's going to happen. Maybe there are certain types of dogs that are more.. independant shall I say. I'll investigate.
