Elderly Advice

I’m still experiencing technical problems and have just spent an hour getting a very hot right ear while talking on the phone to an Indian lady (doubtless in Delhi) attempting to help my problem. She didn’t but technical support is arriving this afternoon so I hope he can help.

But enough of that. Bussie is improving daily and last night had a few biscuits which is better than nothing. He’s definitely getting more cuddly (and he’s never been cuddly at the best of times) so this is definitely progress.

As the past few days have been somewhat traumatic, what with itching dogs, missing cats and so on, I thought I’d give you a quote of the week from an elderly lady (eighty plus) who went on the Summer Sunshine cruise around the Mediterranean last year with her equally elderly husband.

As they approached the check in desk, he fumbled for the tickets and passports, rheumy blue eyes watering as his wife got ever more fractious.

‘For God’s sake,’ she said. ‘I told you not to put them in there.’ (You know the kind of thing.)

‘Ah – here they are,’ he said finally, and I gave them the necessary paperwork so that they could board. That necessitated further complications while he replaced their tickets in his bag.

‘He’s always like this,’ said his wife with a twinkle. ‘Takes us ages to get anywhere.’ But it was said without malice.

‘Shut up you old fool, let’s get on with our holiday,’ replied the husband as he lurched forwards, bumping into the next person in the queue, knocking sticks, suitcases and suit bags to the floor.

‘Blind as a bat,’ cried his wife cheerfully, steering him towards safety. When she’d grabbed him securely by the arm she looked back at me and winked. ‘Too much sex, you know.’

I had a smile on my face for the rest of the day.

funny story.

my riley the wild dog gets very cuddly when he's not feeling well, or he's very tired.

Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems. I hope the technical support will be better help than the telephone call (I hope it was a free call!)

A funny story FP! Great copy?

Very funny story. I get such a kick out of listening to these couples who have been married forever.

Glad you're getting some cuddles. See? He does need his mama.

Great story, so funny!! And told well, too :)

Sounds like Bussie is getting there. My Sammy Cat is just recovering from a bout chronic upper respiratory tract disease - otherwise known as recurring snuffles - and is very (very)cuddly as he gets better. And a lot less grumpy. But he still randomly sneezes in my cup of tea... sigh... hugs to Bussie, hope he keeps improving and stays cuddly.

graham - yes what a relief that things are settling down. Hope Tilly is behaving herself - er - well, in her own inimitable way of course!

Dee - yes techie problems are fine now thank god. Bussie not eating yet but purring which is something.

Em - glad you enjoyed the story, but sorry about your cat. Bussie sends Sammy a miaow (he's not feeling overly sociable just yet).

Flowerpot - Sammy says PURRRRR. He is back to full strength (apart from the odd sneeze), as demonstrated when he leaped from the arm of the sofa onto the shoulder of an unsuspecting guest earlier on. There could be mischief over the horizon if I knows my Sammy cat!!

Really good news to hear Bussie is on the road to recovery. Make the most of the cuddles!
What a brilliant couple - one wink speaks a thousand words! If only they weren't so rare.

Em - thanks for the purr! Bussie is visiting regularly but still stays out most of the time and overnight and had about 3 biscuits yesterday but won't eat his normal stuff. Ive got some very expensive tinned stuff that I'm hoping to tempt him with. Otherwise it's caviar....

Lesley - yes, it;s lovely to see him gradually inch back to his normal stroppy self! I agree about the couple - would that there were more...
