A Meme

8 things I’m passionate about

My family
My animals
My friends
Writing (not necessarily in that order)
Learning
People watching
FUN (though it has to be said, this last week has been dire so fun has been very thin on the ground)
Cornwall

8 things I want to do before I die
Get all of my s****ing books published
Actually earn my living as a writer
Earn some more money so we can have a dog friendly holiday
Win the lottery so Himself needn’t work again
Get my ill health sorted this year
Can’t think of any more

8 things I say often
Bollocks
What?
NO!!!!! (to Mollie)
Love you
WAIT!!!!!
Shit I’ve burnt it
I don’t know (in response to what do you want to eat tonight)
Yes I’d love one (in reply to how about a drink?)

8 books I’ve read recently
Ann Tyler – Ladder of Years (for reading group)
A Spot of Bother – Mark Haddon
We are all Welcome Here – Elizabeth Berg
One Good Turn – Kate Atkinson
The Uncommon Reader – Alan Bennett
The Renegade Writer – Linda Formichelli and Diana Burrell

Can’t Wait to get to Heaven – Fannie Flagg

8 things that attract me to my best friends
Sense of humour

Sensitivity
Loyalty
Being There
Shared interests
Love of Himself (they all do)

And I pass this challenge on to anyone who has enough time to do it! It’s taken me ages when I should be WORKING….!

Know what you mean about working - I'm supposed to write an analysis of a beatles track and I can't say I'm a fan so basically I'm trying to use 300 impressive sounding words to say this is mawkish crap. Got to be finished by today and I've gots cubs tonight, it's going to take me a solid month to sort the washing and washing up/kitchen out and..... sod the man, I need a maid! (apologies to neil young)

Aw I like that you say 'love you' regularly.

Couldn't get on with A Spot of Bother. Could you?

Laurie - yes I frequently burn things when I'm writing! And I'm a great fan of Anne tyler except for her last one.

Philipa - yes you do need a maid!

lane - I loved a Spot of bother but I always finds it depends on my mood. At the moment I can't get on with any book at all - very frustrating.

I have to chime in with the others:
'Shit I’ve burnt it' - LOL!
'Yes I’d love one (in reply to how about a drink?)' - (still laughing)

Yep, loved these. I love Anne Tyler too, particularly Ladder of Years. Might have a go at this meme if I can find the time (this means I won't do my ironing!)

correspondent - well, you have to get the major things in life sorted, don't you?

MissU - am I the only one who burns things then? Only when I'm working it has to be said.......

Flowerpot said...

Crystal - look forward to reading yours...

Julia - glad you enjoyed those. Wasn't actually trying to be funny!

elizabethm - I like Anne T but thought the ending for Ladder of Years didnt work for me. Also there's no way I could just walk out on my children like that. But it was well written apart from that.

I love Anne Tyler too, but I know what you mean about Ladder of Years. The first book by her I read was Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, which I think Laurie is reading now. And I love your other book choices as well.

I go through phases of burning food and am in one right now.

Ak - glad you enjoyed them!

wakeup - glad I'm not alone about Ladder of Years - and also about burning food. Hope you feel better about life soon. Burn away!
