Good news!
This was taken near St Ives a few weeks ago - to prove that we have had the odd lovely day.
Two reasons for being cheerful this week.
Firstly, I have just signed the contract for my second walks book – Circular Walks with Cornish Writers, with Sigma Press. They are very approachable and friendly publishers – this first book has been a steep learning curve but they’ve been very patient with me which helps hugely. Particularly as I’ve never met them – they are in Wales.
Secondly, and in conjunction with this, I have got the go ahead to interview Richard and Judy as two of my writers. The interview time is yet to be arranged, but hopefully some time next month.
In January, we were coming back from a walk for Cornwall Today, near Looe, when I saw a sign to Talland Bay. “Let’s have a look,” I said, “I know Richard and Judy have a house there.” So we set off down an increasingly narrow lane until we met a shiny black car (Beamer or something) coming towards us. “Bet that’s Richard,” laughed Mr B. And as we slowed to squeeze by – it was!
And now I will get to meet them both. I’ve just read Judy’s novel, Eloise, which I really enjoyed, and Richard has a novel coming out soon. So it will be an interesting interview, no doubt.
Now, what questions would you like to ask them?
And keep your fingers crossed for some good weather this weekend - I have a deadline to do a Cornwall Today walk and the forecast's not wonderful!

OMG Talland Bay! Greg and I spent a fortnight there in a rented caravan the year before we were married. We witnessed the most fantastic thunderstorm ever out at sea with forked lightening threatening to hit the caravan! I've still got cine film of our lovely walks along the coastal path to Polperro.
Richard and Judy always strike me as a lovely down-to-earth couple (I once saw him signing books at a supermarket in Eastbourne.) I should imagine you'll have a great time with them.
Addy - what a great story about the thunderstorm! And yes, I'm really looking forward to meeting R & J.
They always seem to be such a genuine pair and full of fun. Bet you'll enjoy that interview. Congratulations on getting it!
Congratulations to on signing the contract too. Things seem to be getting better and better!
See you tomorrow? :)
Thanks Sally! I think life has a habit of doling out good things and not so good things, so we must make the most of the good'uns! Yes, def see you tomorrow. x
How exciting on both counts, congratulations! :)
Ak - many thanks!
Richard and Judy, WOW!!
What a scoop! I'm green with envy.
I would love to interview this couple, who have done so much for writers and books.
A stamp of approval from Richard and Judy was enough to rocket a new novel into the bestseller list. Just imagine what a picture of them on your cover will do for your book sales, Sue.
If I were interviewing them I'd want to know what it is about Cornwall that they love so much. I'd bet it runs deeper than just the pretty coves and beaches.
I would want to know about their writing routines - where they work (I remember reading somewhere that Judy likes to write in bed) / How they structure their writing days / Do they plot as they walk? / Their favourite walks and why.
I think Richard has a boat, so I imagine he'll have plenty of stories to tell about that, too.
Don't forget to stock up on batteries for your digital recorder. You'll have a ball!
I can't wait to read all about it. xx
Rena - great ideas for questions - many thanks. And Ive just written "batteries" to remind me to get some!
Congratulations on the new contract and getting an interview with Richard and Judy. They seem like a really friendly couple, I'm sure you'll have a great time. I think I would ask them whether they discuss plots for their novels with one another, and whether they use any suggestions the other one has made.
Wonderful news, Sue! Congrats on everything!
Congratulations on the new contract - can't wait until I can visit Cornwall again, bring the dogs, and enjoy one of your 'circular walks'!
Well done, can't wait to see how it all goes.We had a lovely few days at St Agnes Beacon last year,I was desperate to see a Chough,we knew they were about but failed to see one so will definitely will be back
Flowerlady - glad you enjoyed St Agnes Beacon I think it's lovely there. Sorry about the choughs though!
Jane - thanks and please get in touch when you do come down!
Such a beautiful photo. I wish I could get down to Cornwall and even follow one of your walks, but family and other commitments won't allow just yet. Maybe later in the year.
Double congrats - on your new book contract and your interviews with Richard and Judy. I was never over fond of Richard, but they both deserve huge plaudits for their support and promotion of new books and reading over the last few years.
I am an avid reader ( two or three books a week) and I've enjoyed many of their recommendations. Mostly by accident rather than deliberate choice, but have always been pleased.
Anyway - good for you!
Elegance - I do hope you can get down to Cornwall one of these days. And I'm delighted to meet another avid reader!
A very upbeat post today, great to read about you signing a new contract, that's fabulous news!
I think Richard and Judy always seem very nice and down-to-earth people. Bet you'll have a great time interviewing them.

CJ - I agree, and they are well used to being interviewed so will be very interesting.
Melissa - many thanks!
Carol - good idea for questions - will add them to the list! Thanks x
